Wolff was a 19th century anatomist who observed that if bones were frequently stressed they would react in the stressed area by increased growth in response to that stress. The degree of growth was selective, specific to counter the lines of forces applied. Such is the wisdom of the body that we do not will this to occur but Mother Nature just takes over what is of necessity to bolster the strength. Stress avoidance, ducking the force, as a matter of lifelong behavior is contrary to Wolff's Law and can lead to a fractured life as well as bones during periodic peak stress. Even a tree trunk on a windy headland follows with thickened bend and trunk size on the force directions of the constant wind. Mother Nature strengthening the life of her tree from fracture. Constant but adapted stress, normal, human, valuable, addressed rather than avoided, will ,within bounds, be a an asset. Just another example of Wolff's Law more widely applied!
